Hey, found these vids surfing youtube. Even though Yoder and I are the only ones that get the whole "Chuck Norris" thing. Call it an obsession if you will. Luke will be home this week, he'll get it too!
**Disclaimer** In no way am I, OGBC, or OGBY supporting Mike Huckabee. But if Chuck likes him, I may have to change my vote!
Have a great week all!

Pardon my absence!
OK, wow, it's been since August! Sorry, 'bout that. Life has just been extremely busy since school started. Speaking of extreme, I mean XTREME, as in XTREME WINTER, be thinking and praying about this upcoming event on Dec. 27-29.
Just kinda wanted to touch base with you for a bit and tell you that I'll try to update more often. It's kinda hard when I'm busy and not very many people actually check this out (sorry to those that do).
Just a reminder: Scavenger Hunt and Movie Night - Saturday, Nov. 3! Sign up for the hunt!
I'll leave you with a video post a student found for me on godtube.com Thanks O! Enjoy! (You'll have to pause the music at the bottom of the blog before starting the video)

Parallax View
Alright, so more on the Six Flags Trip. While we were sitting in front of the Palace waiting on some kids to check in, we were listening to a band named Parallax View. Good band, enjoyed their stuff! They were awesome and they're not from too far down the road, so it might be easy to get them to come to us! If you guys heard them, tell me what you thought. If you haven't heard them, check out their website and myspace page, there you can listen to some of their tracks.

Back Home!
Just got back from Six Flags. Man, was it hot! Really hot. . . but we had a great time anyway. Tanked up on soda and water to stay hydrated (I know soda doesn't hydrate you. I'm a science teacher, remember). And of course the Newsboys concert was awesome! It has been a long time since I've seen them last and they were better than I remembered! Awesome show!

Let me know what you thought of the day at the park and the concert. Thanks for the great time guys!

Six Flags Tomorrow!
Hey guys! Don't forget, Six Flags Christian Family day tomorrow! I'm excited about all the rides and of course the Newsboys concert afterward. Should be an exciting time! Oh yeah, don't forget, there's a new ride this year: Tony Hawk's Big Spin!

If you check out this post after we go, let me know what you thought of this ride or any other ride at the park. Can't wait to go, see you guys on Saturday!

Well, it's gone!
Say goodbye! Say goodbye to the graffiti! It is now gone, after up to 5 coats of Kilz primer and three coats of paint, the youth room has a new, clean look. Haven't yet told Chad that it's gone, but I'll get around to it. And I'll also get some more pics whenever we get finished with it. This is the last time you'll see the graffiti! Tell it goodbye!

It's been a while
Let me catch you up on the going-ons.
Back a couple of weeks ago, Project Unity was held. Over 500 students attended! It was a great night of fun and worship. Thanks alot to Carl and the project alliance for setting it up! Pictures from the event are coming soon on our Flickr page.
The group is gearing up for summer for rest, relaxation and SERVICE PROJECTS! That's right, service. We've been looking at developing our hearts to serve others. We have plans for these projects at about the time school gets out.
We are also planning events for summer such as concerts, theme parks, camps, outdoor fun, and other get-togethers.
A lot of things are going on and will be going on. Hope you'll be a part of some or all of it.
By the way, I have a friend that's really going throught a hard time. If you would, keep him in your prayers.
Have fun during your last few weeks of school!
God Bless,
Parker
Oh yeah, Spiderman 3 is coming out May 4! I already have tickets for it!

Encouragement
Alright, so the events in church have really got me thinking about our youth group. The church conregation (Big Church) can really take an example from you guys. The way that you guys have stuck together through the problems that we've faced should be an example that adults can follow. I will make it a point to encourage our conregation of this fact. I am very proud of you guys. Another unity scripture:
5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5
And to further build our group, I encourage you to participate in the upcoming small groups. I think these will bring us closer together.
Thanks and all of you are such a blessing to me and my wife.

I still can't believe it!
Alright. I kind of went into last night thinking that it was going to be just a typical, busy, Wednesday night. Then the bomb fell (figuratively). At this time, I'm just reeling back from all of it. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will. It seems like just as soon as we feel like everything is going in the right direction, something seems to happen. Now I know that this is all part of God's ultimate plan, it still scares me just the same. So now I'm really looking for direction for our church. Our church and our youth has been through so much in the last handful of years, yet we still hold on. And I'm certain that, only with God's help, that we'll make it through this as well. So here's the scripture that I'm going to latch on to. And if you are wondering what's going to happen, I encourage you to do the same.
5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6
We have to remember that God is in total control. He does have a plan for us and our church. Through the darkest times, it seems like God performs his greatest feats. So I trust that He will point us in the direction we need to take. This anchor will still hold.
I wish this post was a lot more upbeat. Sorry. Couldn't help it. It'll all get better, God promises.

Here we go!
I've got to be out of my mind! Starting a Blog is something that I may not have any time whatsoever to work on. But give me a break, I've got a lot on my plate at the moment. So I'll need your help and support as I try to update it. Check back often so that I'll be encouraged to write more. See you all in Genesis!
Christ's Love,
Matt
